Privacy policy
Last updated 9 September 2026
This policy is for the Daybreak mobile app (bundle and package
com.andytierling.daybreak). Daybreak does not use accounts. You can use the
app without giving a name, email address, or password. It was built with stroke recovery
in mind, and people also use it when energy, feeling, or memory is changing for other
reasons.
What stays on your phone
Daybreak stores your daily check-in on your device. That can include mood, optional weather, optional sensation, optional energy, the three words you saw, and the word you chose. Settings such as reminders, which metrics you track, and whether ads are removed are also stored on the device.
We do not run a Daybreak server. We do not upload your check-ins. Ads do not use your mood, sensation, energy, weather, or recall.
Ads
If you have not bought Remove ads, Daybreak shows banner ads from Google AdMob. Those ads are requested as non-personalised. Google may still receive device information needed to serve and measure ads, such as an advertising identifier, IP address, and general device data. Google’s policy for this is at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can remove banners with a one-time in-app purchase. After that, Daybreak does not load ads.
Purchases
Remove ads is processed by Apple or Google, depending on your phone. They handle payment details. Daybreak only keeps a local record that ads are unlocked on this device, and can restore that purchase from the store account you used.
Reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, Daybreak asks for notification permission and schedules a local notification on your phone. The reminder time stays on the device. We do not send push messages from a server.
What we do not do
- We do not create user accounts.
- We do not sell your check-ins.
- We do not use your check-ins to target ads.
- We do not require a login to use Daybreak.
Children
Daybreak is made for adults. It was built with stroke recovery in mind, and people also use it when energy, feeling, or memory is changing for other reasons. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Health information
Check-ins are for personal reflection. They are not medical records we hold, and Daybreak is not a substitute for medical care.
How to delete data on your phone
Delete Daybreak from your device to remove the on-device check-ins and settings. Store purchases stay with your Apple or Google account and can be restored later.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. The current version will always be at this URL.
